The rumor mill is churning with news that Superman might make an appearance in the Dark Knight’s latest video game foray — Batman: Arkham Knight.
There weren’t many solid superheroes games before Batman: Arkham Asylum hit the scene back in 2009, and god knows there has never been a unanimously well-received superman game. Superman’s potential cameo in Arkham Knight may suggest that he will get his own exclusive game, one developed by the talented guys at Rocksteady Studios no less.
Is Superman about to get his first truly good game? Is it really going to happen?
The Arkham Knight’s IMDB page had veteran voice actor George Newbern casted as Superman. For those not familiar with Newbern, he played Superman in Cartoon Network’s Justice League and Justice League Unlimited alongside Kevin Conroy, who has been the voice of Batman in nearly all his animated adventures, as well as in all three Batman games from Rocksteady.

Both the IMDB posting and the reunion of Conroy and Newbern makes us believe that Superman will indeed be in Arkham Knight. As if that wasn’t indicative enough, his cameo would provide a lucrative marketing opportunity for the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster movie Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice.
We don’t expect the Man of Steele to have a big role in the game, and may in fact be part of a DLC pack. Will he be playable? Possibly, although his immense power will have to be curtailed in order to accommodate him in Arkham Knight’s game world.
Currently, pre-ordering Arkham Knight gives you the opportunity to play as Harley Quinn.
The IMDB post has been amended, suggesting that producers may have revealed Superman’s involvement too early. We will know everything once Batman: Arkham Knight releases on June 2, 2015, on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
