A video game insider claims that the Nintendo NX console will not compete against the PS4 in terms of power, indicating that it’s a less powerful system than Sony’s console and possibly even the Xbox One.
Having supposedly “talked to the right people” about the Nintendo NX console, Liam Robertson (under the alias ‘Unseen 64’) went to twitter to reveal what he learned, specifically stating:
“The NX is definitely not aiming to compete with the likes of PS4 on a power level. Absolutely sure of that now.”
Robertson is credited for leaking Uncharted Collection and the Fallout 4 Pipboy Edition before either was officially announced, making him a reliable source on matters relating to video games. In other words, there is a strong probability he is speaking the truth.
CHECK OUT: Nintendo Reveals Goal for Designing Nintendo NX Console
Nintendo has revealed virtually nothing about the NX not only to ruin the surprise for gamers, but also to prevent Microsoft, Sony and other tech companies from taking their innovative ideas. However, it has been confirmed that the console won’t be a portable device like a tablet as many speculated.
Even so, Robertson’s revelation must make Nintendo fans uneasy at the idea of yet another Nintendo console being underpowered and, thus, disadvantaged compared to the competition. We have no doubt it will be more powerful than the Wii U, but just how much more powerful is what remains to be seen.
Considering that third party developers would definitely appreciate the creative freedom provided by a more powerful system, let’s just hope that — like the Wii and Wii U — they don’t completely abandon the Nintendo NX console for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 because of its relatively weak specs.
