Mario Kart 8 incorporates many gameplay-mechanics from earlier Mario Kart games, but also introduces a slate of new ones including anti-gravity vehicles that allow you to drive on walls or ceilings, as well as new single-player and multiplayer game modes. It also features Miiverse functionality and online multiplayer via the Nintendo Network.
Mario Kart 8 was a hit with both critics and gamers, achieving aggregate game scores of 88.52% and 88% on GameRankings and Metacritic, respectively, and selling nearly 3 million copies in just one month after going on sale.
